About Jorge's Career
Jorge attended Law Preview before starting his 1L year at UPenn Law. After graduation, he joined Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, as an assoicate in its IP & Technology group, before leaving to become a Law Clerk for the Honorable Raymond C. Clevenger, III, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. When Jorge's clerkship ended he returned to a private law practice with two global law firms -- Milbank Tweed Hadley McCloy LLP and Fish & Richardson P.C.-- where his practice focused on patent litigation and counseling.Jorge left private law practice to found PlexMarkets, a seed stage company formed to design and commercialize alternative risk transfer solutions for the intellectual property market. PlexMarkets seeks to change the way technology companies deal with legal risk by creating a new market for financial securities whose value is tied to litigation outcomes. In the process, PlexMarkets plans to revolutionize the way intellectual property infringement risk is priced and mitigated. Jorge has also been selected as a fellowship Finalist by the Society of Kauffman Fellows, whose mission is to identify, network and develop future global leaders of the venture capital industry.
I majored in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry in college, and I was anxious about what it would be like to sit in a law school classroom. The dry run I experienced as a Law Preview participant helped me overcome my fear of the unknown. Watching law school professors teach while learning what they expect from 1Ls gave me a confidence boost that I used to start law school on solid footing. There are very few settings in which someone can make mistakes without suffering any consequences. The Law Preview classroom, which is essentially a ‘flight simulator’ for law students, is one such setting. I encountered very few surprises during the first couple of months of law school, and that was due in large part to the training I received as a Law Preview participant.
